AYDIN. While traders in Turkey refrain from offering long-term contracts for other dried fruits, the situation for dried figs ...

... is more extreme as there are not even offers available for prompt deliveries. Only price indications are occasionally provided as orientation for buyers.

High prices

According to traders in Turkey, the indicative price level for Lerida figs, no. 3, is 7,050 USD/mt FOB Izmir. The stronger lira is considered.

Market players are convinced that buyers will have to brace themselves for prices as high as 8,000 USD/mt in January. Sales at this level are, however, highly unlikely to occur. Farmgate prices currently range at 25 TRY/kg.
