Dried figs: New season, new prices

AYDIN. In just four weeks, the export season for Turkish dried figs will begin; last year, the first batches from the new crop were already being delivered to foreign countries at the beginning of September.

Price collapse at the right time
The new season is already within sight and finally the offers for commodities from the new crop are orientating themselves on the better production outlook for the 2017 crop. Dried figs, Lerida, No. 2 are currently being offered for 5,050 USD/mt FOB Izmir. At this time last year, prices for the new crop were much lower at 4,700 USD/mt FOB, as poor quality made the prices increase drastically during the course of the 2016/17 season.
