AYDIN. Aflatoxin and ochratoxin have impacted dried figs in Turkey. Weekly exports are up.

Aflatoxin and ochratoxin an issue

Temperatures will range at 8C (46F) at night and 23-28C (73-82F) during the day this week with sun and maybe also some rain in Aydin towards the end of the week. These weather conditions have no impact on the fig trees with weather conditions still favourable.

Concerns that the remaining products on the market may contain aflatoxin and ochratoxin have prompted exporters to refrain from purchasing, which has in turn caused prices to fall significantly in the markets.
