Dried figs: uncertainty despite good prospects

AYDIN. Following the pollination period, market players are satisfied with the development of figs for dried fruit production. At the same time, they are keeping a wary eye on the weather.

Nothing is certain yet

Despite the hot temperatures of 37-40°C, the fig crop in Aydin is developing well so far. The pollination period appears to have been successful and, according to reports, fruit set is satisfactory. Nevertheless, market players remain cautiously optimistic for the time being.

In recent years, unfavourable weather conditions in August and during the harvest period have been the main factors leading to quality and yield losses in dried fig production.
