Flaxseed: Canada’s exports up by 33%

OTTAWA/ASTANA. In the first two months of 2026, Canadian traders exported flaxseed worth more than USD 30 million. Alongside Canada, other producing countries are also expected to expand their acreage this year.

Canada increases export value by a third

The business of Canadian flaxseed exporters consists largely of shipments to the USA and China. From January to February 2026, flaxseed worth USD 30.447 million was exported from Canada, representing an increase of around a third compared with last year. At USD 14.531 million (+2.5% year-on-year), the US accounted for 47.7% of the export value, while shipments to China made up 32% or USD 9.808 million (+243.4% year-on-year).
