Flaxseed: drastic rise in price

OTTAWA/NUR-SULTAN. High demand and declines in production are leaving their mark on the flaxseed market in Kazakhstan. Raw seed prices have risen drastically.

Raw seeds trade more than 40% higher

The decline in production has now been confirmed in Eastern Europe. Production is estimated 16% lower in Russia than last year at 680,000 mt. In Kazakhstan, production is estimated at 840,000-875,000 mt, well short of the 1 million mt produced last year. Market players also point out that official figures tend to be more optimistic than the actual volumes. Local authorities are still to issue updated production estimates.
