ASTANA. According to the production estimates issued by the Kazakh Grain Union (KGU) flaxseed yields will recover considerably this year. Yet, exports have slumped.

KGU is optimistic

After initial rain-related delays wheater conditions are now much better and harvesting can proceed without disruptions. The KGU estimates this year's production at 680,000 mt. Last year's production only reached 465,000 mt according to the KGU with other estimates ranging lower.

Russian analyst IKAR has revised the production estimates for Russia downwards by 110,000 mt to 1.19 million mt. Reason are the adverse weather conditions during harvesting in Sibiria, which accounts for more than 40% of the country's production.
