Flaxseed: export duties on Russian flaxseed announced

OTTAWA/MOSCOW. From May, Russian flaxseed exports outside the Eurasian Economic Union are to be taxed significantly. Canadian traders, meanwhile, hope to make a greater contribution to the international market again.

20% duty on Russian flaxseed exports

In Canada, the acreage is expected to be larger this year. Nevertheless, the supply situation is fragile due to the small carry-over stocks from the current season. There is too much concern that unfavourable weather conditions will reduce yields again this year. In 2021, large parts of Canada and thus also of the growing regions suffered from record temperatures and drought, which did not leave the crops unscathed.
