ASTANA. Russia has left a wide gap in the EU's supply chain for flaxseed as recent import statistics show. Kazakhstan is confronted with export and transit restrictions in Russia.

Russia turns down transits from Kazakhstan

As news agency APK Novosti reports Russia has effectively banned all grain imports and transits from Kazakhstan. On 23 September the Russian Agricultural Control Authority Rosselkhoznadzor appealed to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture to stop issuing phytosanitary certificates for grain and grain processing products along with sunflower seeds for sowing originating in third countries, tomatoes and red peppers.
