NUR-SULTAN. In the European spot market, Eastern European flaxseed is traded at significantly higher prices than in the past two years. For the farmers, this is a reason to increase the area under cultivation again this year.

Rest of the crop will be threshed in mid-April

According to reports, around 15% of the 2019 flaxseed crop is still in the fields, and it is estimated that this will be threshed in mid/end April. Hibernation can under certain circumstances have a negative effect on quality. Market players had already identified visual defects in the crop brought in last autumn. In the European spot market, offers for brown flaxseed with a 99.9% purity are at a level of EUR 0.58-0.60 per kg DDP Germany, which is about EUR 0.10-0.15 per kg more than in March 20
