Flaxseed: increased sowing in Kazakhstan

ASTANA/OTTAWA. Kazakhstan's flaxseed exports had already more than doubled after the first nine months of the 2025/26 season compared with the entire 2024/25 season. The acreage has increased year-on-year. The plants are developing well.

Kazakhstan’s exports have more than doubled

For some time now, it has been apparent that Kazakhstan is set to achieve an all-time record export season in 2025/2026. According to the latest data from the Kazakh customs authority, 71,300 mt of flaxseed were shipped overseas in May 2026; this represents a 39% decline compared with the previous month.

Total exports for this season (Sep-May) amount to 1.077 million mt, representing an increase of 138% compared with the same period last year and more than double the total exports for 2024/2025 of 524,000 mt.
