Flaxseed: Kazakhstan doubles exports

ASTANA/MOSCOW. After last year's slump, Kazakhstan was able to double its flaxseed exports in the first few months of this season. Meanwhile, the EU drastically increased its imports from Russia in the final weeks of the year 2024.

Trade revives

The flaxseed market is slowly regaining momentum after the turn of the year. Traders are reporting a particularly high level of interest from buyers in golden flaxseed. Accordingly, prices have risen somewhat in recent weeks, and according to market experts, there are only small quantities of golden flaxseed left on the Kazakh market.

Between September and November 2024, Canadian suppliers were able to ship 126,500 mt of flaxseed overseas, doubling the export volume year-on-year after the previous year's slump in yields had put a real damper on
