Flaxseed: Kazakhstan doubles exports

ASTANA. A recovery in crops and EU tariffs on Russian flaxseed imports have caused Kazakhstan's flaxseed exports to double. Around 74% of exports went to China and Belgium.

Belgium increases imports by 312%

After a disastrous crop year in 2023, Kazakh flaxseed production recovered significantly in the 2024/2025 season. Exports are therefore also well above the previous year's results. According to the Kazakh Grain Union (KGU), Kazakhstan exported a total of 453,200 mt of flaxseed between September 2024 and May 2025, more than doubling its exports year-on-year. Many important customer countries have significantly increased their flaxseed imports from Kazakhstan. At 173,200 mt, 38% of shipments went to China and another 36% to Belgium. E
