Flaxseed: Kazakhstan could export around 820,000 mt in 2025/2026

ASTANA/OTTAWA. Kazakhstan's flaxseed exports remain at a high level and have already exceeded last year's total exports by 22%. Canada's acreage is expected to expand by around 22% year-on-year.

Exports expected to rise by 57%

According to preliminary data from the Kazakh customs office, the country exported a total of 118,100 mt of flaxseed in January 2026, a decrease of 34% compared to the previous month. However, exports had reached their highest level to date in December 2025 at 179,300 mt.

In total, around 638,100 mt of flaxseed was exported from Kazakhstan in the first five months of the 2025/2026 season (Sep-Jan), which is not only 138% more than last year at this time, but also 22% above the total exports for the 2024/2025 season of 524,000
