Flaxseed: larger acreages in Russia and Kazakhstan

OTTAWA/ASTANA. Although the current situation would be predestined for the Canadian flaxseed market to increase its market share in Europe, the cultivation forecasts remain sobering. Meanwhile, larger acreages are expected in Russia and Kazakhstan.

Rising prices in Canada

Due to the import duties on Russian flaxseed, EU buyers have shifted their purchases somewhat this season. Not only have significantly larger quantities been imported from Kazakhstan and Ukraine than in previous years, but shipments from Canada have increased 18-fold year-on-year to 42,568 mt.
