Flaxseed: rain proves difficult for harvest

NUR-SULTAN. While harvesting has started in Kazakhstan, the farmers are confronted with adverse weather conditions. Market players also report that supplies are nearly sold out.

Drought followed by rain

Harvesting has started early in some parts of Kazakhstan. While drought prevailed in some rpart of the country in recent months, intermittent rain is now rendering the harvest difficult. Market analyst Oil World nevertheless estimates production at 1.1m mt as the area shown has grown markedly. Traders state that supplies are nearly exhausted. Brown flaxseed with a 99.9% purity is trading at EUR 0.568/kg DDP Germany.
