Flaxseed: revised estimates

OTTAWA. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has revised the estimates for this year's flaxseed crop. Prices have shifted in Eastern Europe.

Encouraging prospects for 2025/2026

According to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada production only reached 258,000 mt in 2024/2025, which is 5% less than last season. Main reason for this decline was a record-low area sown. As carryin supplies were also quite low total supplies only stand at 432,000 mt, a stunning 20% below the five-year moving average. At 250,000 mt exports will, by contrast, rise by 19% as compared with last year. Domestic consumption will drop by 28%.
