Flaxseed: Russia buys raw seeds in Kazakhstan

MOSCOW/NUR-SULTAN. Due to high prices, the oil mills in Russia there are increasingly buying raw seeds in Kazakhstan. Shipnebts to Germany have, however, declined this season.

EUR 0.44 per kg for flaxseed in Russia

As market players report, the raw seed prices range as high as EUR 0.39-0.44 per kg EXW Russia, depending on region. Prices also range nominally higher in Kazakhstan at EUR 0.35-0.37 per kg EXW. The oil mills in Russia have stepped up purchases in Kazakhstan to meet demand, especially from China. Spot market prices have also risen in Europe and range at EUR 0.59-0.63 per kg DDP Germany.

Germany cuts shipments from Kazakhstan by 37%

Shipments from Eastern European to Germany have risen by EUR 0.07 per kg in price for brown flaxseed with a 99,9 % purity over last year, and by more than EUR 0.10 per kg since two years ago. This is one of the reasons why shipments to Germany have declined by 15% to 65,482 metric tonnes in the first five months of the season. According to the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, shipments from Kazakhstan have even dropped by more than 37%.
