Flaxseed: situation on the Kazakh-Chinese border comes to a head

NUR-SULTAN/OTTAWA. After weeks of delays due to Chinese controls at the border, the state-owned Kazakh railway company has stopped deliveries to the neighbouring country for the time being. Meanwhile, flaxseed prices have increased slightly again.

Prices continue to rise

Flaxseed prices in Kazakhstan continue their upward trend. Farmgate prices for brown flaxseed, 97%, for March deliveries are currently at USD 835-840/mt CIF Ghent, deliveries in April are slightly cheaper at USD 830/mt. On the European spot market, prices for cleaned goods have also risen slightly and are at EUR 750-770/mt DDP Germany for brown flaxseed with a 99.9% purity.
