Flaxseed: smaller acreage in Russia

OTTAWA/MOSCOW. In view of the declining cultivation forecasts in Canada, Kazakhstan and Russia, prices are currently moving upwards again. In Russia, sowing was 30-35% lower than last year.

Uncertainty remains

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada had recently made a significant correction to its crop forecast for the Canadian flaxseed season 2023/2024. In the current report, expected volumes remain unchanged, but the estimated average price has been raised by 11% to CAD 565/mt compared to the July report, which would still represent an 11% decline from the previous year. Meanwhile, production is still expected to reach 325,000 mt with a yield of 1.35 mt/ha and an area of 247,000 ha. Thanks to lush carry-over stocks, it is estimated that 610,000 mt of flaxs
