ASTANA/BRUSSELS. Flaxseed sowing is progressing well in Kazakhstan. Favourable weather conditions are supporting the positive outlook. Experts are speaking out against the imposition of potential export duties on Kazakh oilseeds.

Optimistic outlook

In Kazakhstan, farmers have started the new sowing season under promising conditions, with favourable weather. Although it is not yet possible to say exactly how large the acreage will be this year, according to expert Yevgeny Karabanov, an acreage smaller than last year is not expected. Karabanov believes an increase in the sown area of 50,000-70,000 ha compared to the 2025/26 season is possible – according to data from the Kazakh Statistics Service, this stood at around 1.35 million ha, making it approximately 54% larger than in 2024/25.
