NUR-SULTAN. Flaxseed sowing has started early in northern Kazakhstan. Sowing normally starts at the beginning of May. Experts do not, however, rule out a decline in production this season.

Yields are decisive

Prompted by an increase in acreage and yields production exceeded 1 million metric tonnes this season as official data confirms. Production ranged at 933,500 metric tonnes last season. Sowing is currently expected to exceed 1 million hectares this year, but if yields turn out to be average of around 0.8 metric tonnes per hectare production will only range at 850,000 metric tonnes.
