OTTAWA/ASTANA. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has published its crop forecast for the 2026/27 Canadian flaxseed season. Despite good crops in the major producing countries, prices remain largely unchanged.

Conservative crop forecast for 2026

Canadian flaxseed traders continue to face challenges this season. Buyers from the EU and China are primarily sourcing goods from Kazakhstan and Russia. The good domestic crop is therefore also preventing prices from rising. The situation is somewhat different for golden flaxseed, however. According to experts at Rayglen Commodities, demand is good across the board, which is likely due to the lower availability of this variety in Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
