OTTAWA/MOSCOW. According to experts, Canada's flaxseed crop will be significantly better than last year with average yields. Meanwhile, the flaxseed trade with Russia is on the brink of collapse.

Canada's crop has potential

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has left its forecast for the 2022/2023 flaxseed season largely unchanged from the January report, with only a slight increase in the estimated average price for both the current and upcoming seasons. Hopes for average yields are the basis for the expected production increase of 68% to 580,000 mt, while acreage is actually expected to decline slightly, according to the current report.
