Flaxseed: traders want to sell

NUR-SULTAN/OTTAWA. As demand is very much subdued traders are trying to sell their expensive supplies as quickly as they possibly can. Producers, however, expect prices to rise for the new crop. Issue is the lack of rain in Kazakhstan.

Subdued demand weighs on prices

The low demand for flaxseed oil is weighing on the prices for flaxseed. Traders, however, depend on contracts to keep their businesses up an running and are desperately trying to sell before prices decline further. While the prices for golden flaxseed still range at EUR 1.45/kg EXW Poland, the prices for brown flaxseed with a 99.9% purity have declined to EUR 1.18/kg EXW Poland and to EUR 1.90 EXW Ghent.
