Flaxseed: still trading high

OTTAWA/ASTANA. Golden flaxseed supplies are very much limited at present. Offers, if issued at all, are only valid for a few hours. Kazakhstan has nearly doubled shipments to the EU.

Golden flaxseed in short supply

Vastly different trends are showing in the current flaxseed market. Kazakhstan accounts for the lion's share of EU imports, despite raw seed prices continuing to rise. Brown flaxseed, 99.95%, was recently trading at EUR 940/mt DDP Germany. Shipments from Ukraine are declining as supplies are nearly sold out. The country's supplies cannot match the volumes harvested in Russia, Kazakhstan or Canada.
