ORDU. After the TMO announcing its purchase prices Ferrero’s prices are now also in the open. These prices are expected to stabilise the market for now.

Reports state that Ferrero is offering to buy in shells for 9.25 TRY/kg, which renders the TMO’s purchase prices of 10.00-10.50 TRY/kg for Levantine and Giresun kernels slightly more attractive.

Exporters speculated on wrong prices

Buyers and sellers alike are happy with these prices. Some exporters had, however, previously speculated on farmgate prices as low as 8.00 TR/kg. Traders nevertheless do not expect farmgate prices to drop below 9.00 TRY/kg for now – too high a value if supplies are taken into consideration.

Market players not only reckon with abundant carry over stocks but also with a large production of high quality. Although official crop estimates have yet to be published, they would hardly produce an impact on the current market situation. For the processors, the only unknown factor of interest is the kernel size. Too few nuts have so far been cracked for reliable estimates.
