ORDU. A court ruling regarding Ferrero could lead to speculative buying on the Turkish hazelnut market. The Turkish statistics office has reduced its forecast for the coming hazelnut crop.

Court lifts restrictions on Ferrero

In March 2024, the Turkish competition authority imposed restrictions on Ferrero after the company violated Articles 4 and 6 of Law no 4054 on competition protection. As a result, the competition authority had suspended its investigation into the company for the time being. Market giant Ferrero has unrivalled purchasing power that can influence the market. To protect the hazelnut market, the company should no longer be allowed to bid below the reference price set by the TMO.
