ORDU. Turkish hazelnut growers are anything but happy with current price levels and are taking appropriate action. Everyone is eagerly awaiting the TMO’s price announcement. There is still some uncertainty regarding the new crop.

Farmers are holding back their goods

According to local market players, Turkish commodity prices for hazelnuts are at the same level as last week. This means that the Ordu variety is trading at TRY 165-180/kg, depending on the buyer and quality, whilst the Giresun variety costs TRY 185-195/kg. However, there are numerous complaints that market prices have fallen below the TMO minimum price. Growers state that their production costs exceed this price and are therefore unwilling to bring their produce to market. They are hopeful that the TMO price will be significantl
