Hazelnuts: first impressions of new crop

ORDU. With the first volumes of the new crop arriving the market has caught a first glimpse of the yields and quality of this year’s hazelnuts. The TMO price has turned symbolic. Prices on offer for the new crop are showing a clear direction.

First glimpse of quality

Harvesting is in full swing in Turkey with growers advised to follow the official timelines to avoid compromising quality and yield. In Ordu, the official harvest period started on 4 August in coastal areas, on 11 August in the midlands and on 18 August in the highlands. In Samsun, the campaign will run from 16 to 23 August in coastal areas, form 9 to 16 August in the midlands and form 23 to 20 August in the highlands.
