ORDU. Ferrero’s recent market entry was only short-lived. Exporters disagree as to which way the market will turn.

Short-lived entry

Last week, Ferrero decided to buy hazelnut kernels with offers above market level. Bids stood at TRY 560/kg for 11-13 mm sized kernels and at TRY 575/kg for size 13-15 mm with premiums in place for higher qualities. This market entry was, however, only short-lived as purchases were completed by 10 February. Shipments will continue throughout March. The estimated purchase quantity is 50,000 mt. According to exporters this quick entry and withdrawal did not cause any major price movements in the market.
