Hazelnuts: uncomfortable new reality

ORDU. With Ferrero having completed buying the new price reality for hazelnuts sits uncomfortably with traders. Suppliers in Turkey are somewhat alarmed with the demand situation in Europe. Exports are approaching a historic low.

Divergence between price reality and expectations

According to estimates Ferrero secured around 50,000 mt of in-shell hazelnuts in the most recent round of buying last week. Thereby the confectionary producer has exceeded the 30,000 mt purchasing commitment set by the Competition Authority. Ferrero has basically completed buying for this year and may or may not procure additional kernels in 2026.
