Impending panic in the market for apricots?
MALATYA. Turkish apricot farmers are uncertain in the face of continuous high availability of dried apricots. Which are the consequences for the market? Prices have remained stable for dried apricots compared to last week, which was a change after the steady decline since the beginning of the new year. Currently prices for raw goods are at 6-8 TRY/kg.

Things might change
Market participants report that there is little new demand. They do not expect much trade activity before February, when buyers will want to profit from good prices before the risk of frost which might drive prices to soaring hights in spring. Until then a further decline in prices cannot be ruled out since there is still sufficient raw material available. Without frost the season will run an interesting course in which the exchange rate development of the Turkish Lira will remain important.
