To help the falling prices.

The Indian Government has directed to lift the stock limits on pulses in all the states as prices of them fell below the MSP.

This happened because when the prices of lentils and pulses reached the highest price point, a lot of farmers started to harvest for that specific commodity and which resulted in a record production,  as the supply was in abundance hence pressuring the price to fall below MSP.

Due to this the government has to extend it's procurement window and it's still not helped to control the fall in prices.

The south Asian country is estimated to have produces 22.40 million tons of pulses in 2016/17, that is up by 37% compared to last year.

Therefor, removal of stock limit will help traders to buy more of pulses which can help the falling prices.
