KYIV/DALIAN. Ukrainian farmers are achieving significantly higher millet yields than last year. On the Chinese market, prices have little room to fall. EU imports have declined by 60% this season.

Higher yields in Ukraine

The millet harvest in Ukraine continues to progress well. By 21 September, around two-thirds of the total acreage – 26,900 ha – had been harvested. Thanks to an average yield of 2.32 mt/ha, production to date stands at 62,200 mt. At this time last year, yields were still significantly lower (averaging 1.64 mt/ha) and the harvest was about halfway complete. Of the 37,600 ha harvested at that time, just 45,350 mt of millet had been brought in by that point.
