Market Dynamics :

In main polished big green mung bean producing areas in China, the general purchasing price of sieved commodity bean is in the range of 1348-1378 USD/TON and the loading price of the sifted cargo (after magnetic separation and gravity separation) is in the range of 1348-1409 USD/TON. The purchasing price of sieved sprouted polished big green mung bean is 1378-1409 USD/TON and the loading price of the sifted cargo (after magnetic separation and gravity separation ) is 1531 USD/TON. As to the sprouted polished small green mung bean, the purchasing price is from 1470- USD/TON and the loading price of the sifted cargo (after magnetic separation and gravity separation) is 1531 USD/TON.   

In main sales areas, the market retail price of commodity polished big green mung bean ranges from 1455-1577 USD/TON and the quotation of Myanmar polished mung bean is from 1302 - 1424 USD/TON.  In Kunming Port of Yunnan Province, the quotation of Myanmar polished mung bean is 1332 USD/TON and the quotation of unpolished green mung bean is 1149-1179 USD/TON.

Market Analysis

Today, the mung bean prices in domestic market of China are basically stable. The selling of goods is general In Taonan City of Jilin Province, the current purchasing price of commodity mung bean is from 1378 USD/TON and the loading price of the sifted cargo (after magnetic separation and gravity separation) is 1409 USD/TON. There are quite some people purchasing sprouted mung bean, while less people buying commodity mung bean. Farmers have only few stocks in hand. The domestic early mung bean have started to be harvested and have come into the market, but not so many and the price is not stable yet. The grain dealers are not positive to purchase goods and are mainly taking a wait-and-see attitude. In sales market, the selling of mung bean is not good. As the temperature drops in China, the selling of mung bean has been affected. Traders purchased the mung bean stocks at a high price in early days, but now since the selling of mung bean is not good, the purchasing price is higher than the selling price. As the weather becomes cooler, it is difficult to sell more mung beans. Besides, the new mung beans are coming into the market in succession, so it is unlikely that the price will increase. It is expected that in the short term, the mung bean price will be weak.

According to the customs data, China imported 3953.8 tons of mung beans in total in June, among which 2393.3 tons are imported from Australia, 813.0 tons are imported from Thailand and 747.5 tons are imported from Myanmar. For the mung beans exported from China, in June, China exported 4381.2 tons of mung beans in total, among which 1698.2 tons are exported to Vietnam, 1343.4 tons are exported to Japan and 534.8 tons are exported to the US. Up to July 31th, 2017, the total quantity of imported mung beans of 2017 season are about 22271.6 tons and the total quantity of exported mung beans of 2017 season are 91311.3 tons.
