OTTAWA/KIEV. Judging by the increase in global production, the stocks in Canada are probably not as small as expected.

Producers lack encouragment

StatsCan has issued the first production estimates for 2019/20, which state that 180,000 mt are to be cultivated on 200,000 ha. Despite the decline in production, prices are comparably low, which does not help to render cultivation attractive. The price decline is driven by the rise in production in the USA, Russia and the Ukraine. Buyers can easily obtain mustard seeds as lower prices.
