Mustard seeds: Ukraine steps up shipments to Germany

OTTAWA/KIEV. Yields are expected to range above average in Canda. Mustard seeds from Ukraine are highly popular in Germany.

Yields to rise by 17%

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has drastically revised the production estimates for 2020/2021 upwards. Yields are expected to range 17% higher than last year at 1.02 mt/ha. Contrary to initial expectations, production should range at 103,000 mt rather than the previously anticipated 90,000 mt. Due the decline in the area sown production will, nevertheless, fall nearly 24% short of last year. Problem is that lentils and rapeseed are more attractive alternatives for farmers this year.
