GAZIANTEP. In Turkey, social media jokes are circulating about the recent price rises in Turkey. Exports have slumped by more than 40%. Snow will have an impact on the 2026 crop.

With snack demand increasing local pistachio kernel prices reached EUR 50/kg (USD 58/kg) before New Year. This ridiculously high price even sparked jokes on social media stating that one kernel costs as much as 50 cents. Exporters have also confirmed that their sales have dropped significantly this season due to high prices.

Exports 43% down

According to the Southeastern Anatolian Exporters’ Association (GAIB) international shipments dropped by 43% last year as Turkey only exported as little as 9,127 mt worth
