Pistachios: reliable crop estimate lacking

GAZIANTEP. Reliable crop estimates are lacking for pistachios in Turkey. Quality is an issue. Farmers are far from happy with the current price developments.

No official crop estimate

Harvesting progressed during September with new crop arrivals increasing in the main producing provinces of Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa. However, post-harvest price corrections have been limited in the local market, particularly for premium kernels. Reports indicate that quotations for perfect green type kernels remained unchanged at around TRY 1,900-2,100/kg (USD 38.51-42.56/kg).
