Sultanas: exporters are surprisingly confident

MANISA. With this year’s production ranging at 305,000 metric tonnes Turkey accounts for as much as 28% of global production, which is estimated at 1.29 million metric tonnes. The exporters are, however, far from satisfied with their performance.

Raisins: traders contradict INC estimates
TEHRAN. Raisins account for a considerable share in Iran’s agricultural exports. Despite all the setbacks witnessed this year, market players are confident that overseas shipments will rise. The market is, however, confronted with quality issues and traders oppose the official production estimates of the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council.

MANISA. Market players report that the weather in Turkey is so erratic that precise forecasts are next to impossible. Although temperatures have finally cooled down in Manisa, they still remain above 31C. Local rains and hailstorms have, in addition, caused massive damages in some places.

Dates: buyers in Kazakhstan profit from cheap prices
TEHRAN. Iran nearly shipped 240,000 metric tonnes of dates worth more than USD 211 million to more 85 countries last year (21 March 2019-20 March 2020). Kazakhstan features as top export destination with a surprisingly low export value. Buyers in the EU, however, only play a minor role.
