CHRUDIM/ANKARA. In the Czech Republic, the blue poppy seed harvest continues to progress and the first loads are already being processed and stored in warehouses. Compared to last week, traders have made further price adjustments.

Prices decline

After the initial delays, the blue poppy seed harvest in the Czech Republic is still in full swing. Neither the particularly euphoric crop forecasts at the beginning of the sowing season nor the pessimistic statements after the heavy rainfall and the first disappointing results could be confirmed so far. In total, the blue poppy seed crop in 2020 reached only slightly below-average yields, which is why market players expect a crop of at least 25,000-26,000 metric tonnes - a slight increase compared to 2019.
