Dried figs: processing has started

TEHRAN. Harvesting has started in Estahban and in Neyriz in Fars Province and dried fig processing is underway. Lack of investments are, however, a massive problem in Iran.

Ideal weather conditions

Weather conditions are good and around 20,000 mt of fresh figs should be harvested in Estahban this year. Fars province Agricultural Administration has urged all packaging, processing and cold storage facilities to stick to hygiene regulations. Harvesting is also underway in Neyriz, where figs are harvested right through until mid-October. Around 4,000 mt of fresh figs should be harvested here and dried figs from this region are shipped to India, China and Eastern Europe and the Persian Gulf. Problem, however, is that investments are lacking
