Cashews: India wants to increase production

HANOI/NEW DELHI. Since India has the highest consumption of cashew nuts in the world, domestic production is to be boosted by innovative measures. Vietnam, however, is recording significant increases in exports to the USA.

Cashew cultivation to be revolutionised

As reported by Business Line, at 32% India ranks first in the world for cashew consumption, but accounts for only 20% of global raw material production. Prime Minister Modi would like to make the country's agricultural sector less dependent on foreign markets. As far as cashew processing is concerned, Vietnam is clearly in first place with a market share of 52% in 2019.
