Blue poppy seeds: producers reluctant to sell

CHRUDIM/ANKARA. Although blue poppy seed farmers are refusing to sell in the Czech Republic, buyers are nevertheless profiting from exchange rate fluctuations.

New production estimates to be issued soon

The Czech Statistical Office will issue an updated crop report very soon. Official production estimates range at 28,800 mt, well above the 4-year moving average of nearly 22,000 mt. While yields are said to range at a rather average 0.72 mt/ha, the area sown is larger than last year at 40,000 ha.
