Pecans: US estimates show discrepancies

ATLANTA. The current figures on US imports and stocks raise some questions. Meanwhile, US exports have declined, also due to trade tensions with China.

High cold storage stocks

In its latest report, the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service announced that cold stocks of pecans, especially in-shell, have increased significantly. Stocks of unshelled nuts have increased by a whopping 75%, and total stocks since February of this year are about 10% higher than in the same period last year. August saw the biggest jump year-on-year with an 18% increase in inventory volume.
