Almonds: sharp 40% rise in US exports

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. US exports have risen sharply in September. As arrivals gain pace it is transpiring that the rise in prices observed over the last few weeks was only short-lived.

US exports at a glance

According to the Almond Board of California a total of 205,942 mt of shelled and unshelled almonds have been shipped in August and September, around a third more than one year ago. Of these, 58,746 mt (+11%) were shipped within the US and 147,196 mt (+43%) overseas.

September exports were strong as 89,534 mt of shelled and unshelled almonds were shipped overseas, 2,000 mt more than in August and a rise of 40% over September 2019. Domestic shipments ranged at 28,841 mt, meaning that total shipments ranged at 118,375 mt, a rise of 33% ov
