Hazelnuts: Ferrero steps up purchases in Italy

ORDU. As demand for hazelnuts is largely subdued, exporters rather concentrate on selling existing stocks. This appears to have curbed the prices the farmers are asking for.

Export prices decline further

Since exporters are rather focused on selling off their stocks farmgate prices have remained firm at TRY 24.50/kg. Overseas buyers are profitting from exchange rate fluctuations. Suppliers in Turkey are also more willing to enter into long-term contracts again. The current market situation has, however, prompted some buyers to prefer to wait for further price cuts.

Natural hazelnut kernels, size 11-13 mm, are trading at EUR 6.20/kg DDP Germany. The prices on offer are relatively uniform. Suppliers also state that it is difficult
