MADRID. The downward spiral in the price of Spanish Valencia almonds continues relentlessly. Other almond varieties are, however, resisting this trend.

Trade is notably subdued in run up to Christmas

Subdued demand and good availability weigh on the market. Natural Valencia almonds, 12/14 mm are again trading EUR 0.05/kg lower at EUR 3.75-3.70/kg FCA Spain. For Largueta and Marcona almonds the situation is, however, different. Prices have risen sharply for these varieties. Natural Largueta almonds, 13/14 mm, are trading EUR 0.40/kg higher at EUR 6.00/kg FCA Spain and natural Marcona almonds, 12/14 mm, at EUR 6.60/kg FCA Spain. US almonds are trading firm on the spot market in Europe.
