Mustard seeds: experts make price adjustments

OTTAWA/KIEW. In their latest report, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada made hardly any adjustments on the mustard seed season 2020/2021. However, buyers have to be prepared for significantly higher prices.

Drop in production

So far the forecasts for average prices for the current season were comparatively low at CAD 698/mt, considering the 24% drop in production to 103,000 mt compared to last year. Although more yellow mustard seeds had been harvested, current reports indicate that there were considerably less brown mustard seeds and also mustard seeds, oriental cannot keep up with last year's result. At the same time, an above-average part of the crop is said to be of very good quality.
